What moves the price of a roof
No two roofs cost the same. These six factors help explain what your roof will cost. We’ll provide a clear written estimate so you know what you’re paying for.

- Measured in “squares” (100 sq ft of roof). Most of the price follows this.
- 02Pitch and height
- Steep or tall roofs need more safety equipment and time.
- 03Layers to remove
- Two old layers cost more to tear off and haul away than one.
- 04Decking condition
- Rotted or soft boards must be replaced. We photograph them and price them per sheet in writing.
- 05Materials
- Shingle line, underlayment and ventilation upgrades.

- Chimneys, skylights, valleys and wall flashing add labor.

Yes. There is no charge and no obligation, and the report is yours to keep whether or not you hire us.
How much does a new roof cost?
It depends mostly on size, pitch, how many layers come off and the condition of the decking (see “What moves the price”). We would rather give you a real written number after seeing your roof than a guess over the phone.
Do I need to be home for my roof estimate or inspection?
It helps, so we can check the attic and walk you through what we found. If you can’t be there, we can inspect the outside and go over your estimate or report with you by phone.
Will you deal with my insurance company?
We document roof damage with dated photos and can share them with you and your insurer. We are a roofing contractor, not a public adjuster: you decide whether to file a claim, and your insurer decides what is covered. We never offer to pay or waive your deductible.
What warranty comes with a new roof?
Shingle manufacturers warrant their materials. The exact manufacturer warranty and any workmanship coverage for your project are spelled out in writing in your proposal before you sign anything.
Do you handle permits?
Permit requirements vary by city and project. We’ll tell you whether your project needs one and how it’s handled in your written proposal.
Who installs my roof?
A professional installation crew working under our contract and our quality-control process. We photograph key stages of the installation, and each job ends with a final walk-through and completion checklist.
How do payments work?
Your payment schedule is written into your proposal before you sign. If you sign a contract at your home, Ohio law gives you three business days to cancel, and we explain how in the contract.
Are you affiliated with other companies called Patriot Roofing?
No. Patriot Roofing of the Akron–Canton area is locally owned by Darrell Stout and is not connected to any other roofing company using the Patriot name, including one in Oklahoma.
